Community Gardener and Project Manager
I’ve been involved with the urban food growing movement in London since 2008. As a community gardener and garden educator, I’ve worked growing food to sell and teaching horticulture to schoolchildren and volunteers.
I have been inspired by the work of the London Freedom Seed Bank and believe that the power to save our seed heritage lies within the hands of every individual. However, I am aware of the numerous challenges that small-scale and home growers face.
My motivation for undertaking this research project is to understand how community models can make a meaningful impact in protecting seed diversity and how this fledging movement can best be supported in the UK.
